Our health is our wealth, so when we make it a daily investment, our lives will reflect abundantly the beauty and freedom that optimal health gives.
Having our kitchen’s stocked with a SuperStar Pantry makes it easy to make healthy decisions on a regular basis, which quickly evolves into the habits of a nurturing, SuperStar lifestyle.
When I say SuperStar lifestyle, I’m talking about living in such a way as to be a gift to the world, and that means with thought, word, and deed, daily acting as my Best Self to be in the Best Interest of our community and planet.
Here I’m excited to share with you 10 ingredients for the kitchen to help you enhance the flavors of every dish, while supporting your beauty and health.
Simply by existing, we get to add more yummy love to all our recipes, shakes and chocolates.
10 FOODS FOR A SUPERSTAR PANTRY
1. Cold-pressed Unrefined Coconut Oil – Great as butter alternative, healthy fat, stable in high heat (so it’s safer to cook with than other oils – save your olive oils for when it’s raw), and makes a great moisturizer for the body and tips of the hair.
2. Chia Seeds – A versatile Superfood, high in protein, omega’s, and dense source of energy. Use liberally in oatmeal, soups, stews, salads, baked goods, and smoothies.
3. Hemp Seeds – A great source of protein and omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and a great assailable form of protein, use instead of grains or meat.
4. Maca – Increases energy, strengthens the immune system, and has a balancing effect on hormones. Use as a tea, or add powder to sauces, smoothies, & chocolates.
5. Wheat Free Tamari - Makes a great marinade and creates an Asian soy sauce flavor for veggies and stir-fries.
6. Cold Pressed Unrefined Oil (Olive or Hemp) – Find stored in a dark bottle and keep cool. Of course we should all eat lots of raw olive oil and don’t worry about the fat as long as its raw – this is what we function from. (My favorite is Manitoba Harvest Hemp Oil - A great source of essential fatty acids - a must use on everything raw!)
7. Lemons – Real lemon juice helps to marinate and gently prepare any food for consumption as well as is very healing to the liver.
8. Celtic Sea Salt or Himalayan Pink Salt – It’s so important to get our minerals & to align with the magic of the ocean.
9.Raw Organic Honey, Stevia or Maple Syrup – We love our sweet tooth: thrive, don’t deprive.
10. Unpasteurized Miso – Probiotic, enzymatic, with a salty flavor- a base for dressings and more.
10 PANRTY ITEMS TO THROW AWAY TODAY:
1. Chemical Sweeteners - These synthetic sweeteners are foreign molecules in the body and can be carcinogenic.
2. White Sugar – This drug disrupts normal brain patterns and is hard on the bones, teeth and body.
3. White Flour – Is usually “gluten” or glue based – and clogs up the colon and system.
4. Margarine or Crisco – These products cannot be processed unless brought to a very high abnormal heat in the body, which does not happen – so it sits around and clogs the arteries.
5. Mayonnaise – Dairy and preservative-based and often hard on the liver.
6. Spam – This canned meat is made from parts that may not even be considered food with the addition of being preserved in aluminum, which has been connected with Alzheimer’s.
7. Non-organic/low-fat dairy – Usually contains hormones & antibiotics, without the benefit of the beneficial fat.
8. Diet/Regular Soda – Carbonation is something the body wants to expel; see synthetic sweeteners.
9. Canola Oil – This is not easily processed by the liver and congests the system.
10. Salad Dressings – These often contain canola oil, which is not easily processed by the liver and body. I did just find 1 that has olive oil instead so look out for this in the labels.
Everyday in the kitchen can be a reflection of the relationship between nature and man, and that we really are what we eat.
